Dear Chicago: Love Letters
James Baldwin wrote that he loved “America more than any other country in this world, and exactly for this reason, [he] reserve[d] the right to criticize her perpetually.”
This same can be written about our city. There is so much to love about Chicago, from its communities, to its food, to its Lakefront. This virtual event will amplify the words and voices of those who are often unheard and have been working, living, surviving and thriving in Chicago Summer 2020.
Hear powerful prose from across the city told by community outreach & caseworkers, CPS high school students, ConTextos Alumni Authors and staff. Join us September 22nd as we gather to share experiences of love and loss, beauty and pain, and all in between.
This will be an evening of connecting, healing and building community with stories that remind us there is both darkness and light, hope amongst hopelessness, roses can still grow from concrete, and that our unwavering & devoted love for our communities and our city, will help it rise from its knees.
